Summary[]
Ares is the Olympian god of war and son to Zeus and Hera. One of the most powerful and prominent gods of Olympus, Ares secretly coveted all of Olympus for himself and sought to overthrow the other gods. To this end, he manipulated the Spartan demigod Kratos, however in so doing he inadvertently set the course for his own demise after Kratos used the power of Pandora's Box to kill him. However, the Evils of the Box would later infect the other Olympians, including Zeus who grew paranoid about Kratos and attempted to kill him, leading Kratos to vengefully kill him and any other god who impeded him. In this way, one could say that Ares' goal of overthrowing Olympus was actually fulfilled, albeit not in the way he had initially hoped.
